About Fish Market
Fish Market is a seafood restaurant in New York, New York. It is listed at 111 South St, New York, NY 10038, which places it among the local businesses of New York that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as asian fusion restaurant, bar & grill, oyster bar restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 4 pm–12 am. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and New York follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I went to this place multiple times now. The food is super good. I love the chicken fried rice, chicken with string beans, and shrimp with string beans. The ambiance is very rustic, may not be for everyone but the food is very delicious. Note: they give the food in paper plates and you use plastic utensils to eat them similar to take away.

We read the online reviews and were very curious to try the fried rice, unfortunately our experience was the worst. Arriving at the bar, surprisingly they asked for IDs, I always have my digital documents while traveling so I dont lose, they did not accept despite being original and valid, the waiter was rather rude and told us to leave. We asked to talk to someone else, we were interested in trying the food, he allowed us as Id is for drinkers only. Ordered a 20 USD chicken crispy fried rice, the portion is very small, can barely see chicken in it, good yes, but nothing extraordinary. Had better food and service in other places, not impressed at all.

A hidden gem! The bar looks shabby inside and outside, but it has the best dishes from Mama!

This is DEFINITELY a hidden gem! You wouldn’t know this place was here. But you should know because… AMAZING! the food, the vibes, the service… all AMAZING! We were absolutely impressed by how kind and attentive the employees were! As someone who uses a wheelchair… they were extremely accommodating! And helpful! A plus are the Jameson shots being passed out! This is definitely on our list to recommend to others! You won’t be disappointed!

Fish Market on South Street feels like a hidden speakeasy you’re lucky to stumble into, intimate, energetic, and full of personality. The space has that unpolished charm that makes you want to stay; sports on the screens, a lively crowd, and a sense that everyone somehow knows each other. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly why it works. What truly makes it special are the people. Jeff (the bar owner) and John are incredible; genuine, welcoming, and effortlessly create that feeling of being taken care of. And then there’s the food. The chef is Malaysian (mom recipe), and you can taste that depth immediately. Rich, layered flavors with a comforting, almost home cooked quality. The wings are addictive, and even a simple dish feels thoughtfully done. It’s not polished, it’s not formal 😁 and that’s exactly the magic. A true neighborhood gem with soul.
